Cybersecurity Study Tour

In this course, you'll travel with one to two faculty members to Washington, D.C., to visit government agencies and corporate facilities active in cybersecurity.

For example, in 2018, students visited the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Department of Homeland Security, Under Armor’s corporate headquarters, and others. Students met with information security and intelligence analysts, college and full-time recruiters, and experts to learn about job opportunities, career paths, skills and experience needed to work in the field, as well as ethics and company culture.

The study tour is recommended for students interested in cybersecurity and majoring in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Cyber Studies (Political Science). The course is an advisor-approved elective for IT majors and fulfills the BoK SCE requirement for other majors.

The three-credit-hour course (PD 2025) is typically offered once a year in the week between spring and summer semester.
