Service Year Programs
- The Red Cross, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavors to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

- Boys Hope Girls Hope believes in children: their ability to overcome their circumstances; their ability to become more than they ever dreamed of; and that they can then give hope to countless others. By providing children with arms-around care, safe homes and environments, a first-class education, opportunities to learn, and academic, financial, and spiritual support through college, Boys Hope Girls Hope empowers children to realize the potential that is within them.

- Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden (CZBG) AmeriCorps brings fun, science-based educational opportunities to students in Cincinnati who need it the most and to challenge our community to do more to conserve resources and wildlife. Zoo AmeriCorps members provide quality STEM education to economically disadvantaged PreK-12 students and engage Zoo visitors in environmentally conscious practices to encourage sustainable behavior

- Cincinnati Youth Collaborative’s AmeriCorps Ohio College Guides Program places 10 recent college graduates in Cincinnati Public High Schools. College Guides offer students in grades 7-12 a near-peer mentoring model, to assist with college exploration, goals, and enrollment. College Guides help to bridge the gap between high school and college for many Cincinnati Public School students.

- Habitat for Humanity helps homeowners achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership. HFHGC AmeriCorps team members perform skilled construction labor and lead volunteers in the construction and rehab of Habitat homes. Through hands-on experience and focused training, AmeriCorps members ensure that families have a decent place to live, within a supportive and strong learning atmosphere, with volunteers and Habitat staff.

- Kentucky Campus Compact (KyCC) supports civic engagement and democratic renewal through its diverse network of Kentucky colleges and universities. KyCC supports the distinctive civic work of each member campus, while also striving to enhance collaboration, learning, and collective impact across our coalition. KyCC AmeriCorps members combat poverty and build capacity in Kentucky high schools, member campuses, and nonprofit organizations.

- LISC AmeriCorps members help create economic opportunity for people who are struggling and improve the quality of life in their communities. LISC Greater Cincinnati AmeriCorps supports organizations to support and develop initiatives for comprehensive community development, increase collaborative efforts of partners in targeted neighborhoods and engage in innovative approaches to working with residents to solve community problems.

- Mercy Serves is a stipend-paid service opportunity for individuals seeking practical healthcare experience. A dynamic team of 10 members provide patient education, access to treatment services, data collection and follow-up, and SBIRT screenings (tool for evaluating drug abuse) across seven Mercy Health Emergency Departments throughout Ohio (Mt Orab, West, Queen City, Anderson, Clermont, Springfield, and Willard).

- NEOMED CRuSH AmeriCorps members establish and deliver Health Professions Affinity Community service-learning based curriculum, working in school districts that lack the resources to provide necessary academic and career support for students to obtain a career in the health care industry. Members serve in their current geographical location. Service Sites include rural and urban schools across Northeast Ohio, and the Cincinnati, Dayton, and Marietta regions.

- Public Allies is a national movement whose mission is to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it. We are changing the face and the practice of leadership by cultivating talented, diverse, “home-grown” leaders and preparing them for lives and careers devoted to social change. Allies receive a full-time 10-month apprenticeship at a local nonprofit, professional development, and implementation of a community-based project

- Project Advance, a program of Santa Maria Community Services, strengthens Ohio communities like Greater Price Hill through service and volunteerism. Project Advance AmeriCorps selects 16 members to serve 11 month direct service terms at programs within Santa Maria and our partner organizations, including the Cincinnati Health Department, Healthy Moms and Babes, Lighthouse Youth Services, Freestore Foodbank and The Urban League of Greater Cincinnati.

- Teach For America works in partnership with communities to expand educational opportunity for children facing the challenges of poverty. Founded in 1990, Teach For America recruits and develops a diverse corps of outstanding college graduates to make a two-year commitment to teach in high-need schools and become lifelong leaders in the effort to end educational inequity. Today, 9,000 corps members ensure that all children have access to an excellent education.
