Go Global

International experience-based learning encompasses academic internships, cooperative education, research, and service learning opportunities abroad. International experiential learning allows students to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting while gaining a better understanding of a given field in a global context.

Employers are increasingly interested in students who have international experience as they struggle to produce a globally competent workforce. Students who participate in international experiential learning demonstrate that they have the skills and cultural sensitivity needed to succeed.

By working abroad, you apply your academic learning to real-world problems and adapt to multi-cultural environments. Success today demands increased adaptability, cross-cultural competency, and intellectual flexibility.

Our team in the Division of Experience-Based Learning and Career Education (ELCE) works closely with UC International to offer these programs. UC International focuses primarily on study abroad, while ELCE focuses on work abroad.

You can gain international work experience in four ways:

  1. Internship
  2. Co-op
  3. Faculty-Led Study Tours
  4. Design Your Own
