Research Process
In any discipline, the research process has five core components:
- a question that has not been answered or a goal that has not been achieved previously
- a strategy, appropriate to the discipline, to answer the question or achieve the goal
- information gathering and analysis
- the emergence of new knowledge, a new understanding, or innovation
- the disssemination of the research process and outcome through presentation and publication
The first three components are informed by the published work of other researchers.
The last two components inform the work of future researchers.
